Some Sketches

Posted by Rodmendez under Sketches (No Respond)

Here are some sketches! Most of them are for training animal anatomy. There are some which were taken from advertising too.

And here are the animals. All of them are after Ken Hultgren, from his book: “The Art of Animal Drawing”  which I really recommend it! Very useful with tons of animals (but no birds though =/).

Just another new illustration

Posted by Rodmendez under Enviroments, Fantasy, Illustration (No Respond)

I really like traditional songs. I’m kinda addicted to them, from Medieval and Renaissance Europe (both East and West parts), passing through Middle East, East Asia and Africa :) . So, I decided to do some illustrations based on some songs.

The one above was inspired by an old traditional Occitan song, called “Ai vis lo lop” (I saw the Wolf). Occitan is the language of Occitania, a region including Southern half of France, Monaco, and small parts of Italy and Spain – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occitania

The song tolds about a wolf, a fox and a hare dancing around a tree. It is believed by some sources that these three animals represent the King, the Lord and the Church, full of collected money from taxes from the poor people.

You can find more info (and the lyrics and song) here: http://www.mamalisa.com/?t=es&p=2170&c=72
